Our in house tutor Petra has been teaching workshops using the medium of polymer clay for more than twelve years and is well recognised for her knowledge and expertise in this field. In 1996 she gained world recognition for her "trademark" beads when she was accepted as one of 12 successful winners in the "First International Polymer clay bead exhibition" Since then she has been guest speaker at a number of Polymer Clay guild meetings in the U.S.A., Britain and Wales.
She has also taught classes in the U.S.A, England and in Australia as well as through out New Zealand. Her classes are technique based therefore you will often go home with a number of pieces as opposed to one completely finished. Her philosophy is that she teach as much as possible during her workshops and students are then free to explore the medium further in their own time.

21st - 25th April Wanaka Autumn Arts School Class No 811 - fee $310 ART CLAY SILVER Tutor: PETRA DE GEUS Art School Website Click here In this wonderfully creative week explore silver jewellery making with Art Clay Silver and polymer clay. Art Clay Silver is made from recycled silver particles, organic binders and water to form a clay-like material. Once fired, this clay becomes pure solid silver (99.9%). This workshop is suited to all levels - no prior experience is necessary, but those with some experience will also be catered for.We will make several different pieces of jewellery including a pair of earrings and a booch pin, plus a number of forms that we will use to create a contemporary silver bracelet. We will also introduce colour by incorporating some polymer clay techniques. There will be time allowed for participants to create something of their own choice. Material fee - $295 - this includes ALL materials to make all five pieces of jewellery, use of tools and firing equipment. Petra is an accredited instructor for Art Clay Silver NZ Ltd. She is also a very experienced polymer clay tutor. The ability to use both mediums together inspired her to gain her accreditation so that she could use the two materials together. The art clay medium fascinates her and she enjoys exploring this medium as much as her students do.She has been teaching for over 10 years now and brings a wealth of knowledge, experience and enthusiasm to her workshops. |
